About Pamela Smith, M.S., CCC-SLP
Helping people feel more like themselves again.
Many adults complete rehabilitation and are told they are "doing well." Yet something still feels different.
Conversations require more effort.
Thinking feels slower.
Returning to work feels overwhelming.
Everyday tasks that once felt automatic now require planning and extra mental energy.
One of the most common things I hear is:
"I just don't feel like myself anymore."
That experience is real and it's often the reason people seek my care.
I'm Pamela Smith, M.S., CCC-SLP, founder of Clear Communication Works, a boutique online speech-language pathology practice dedicated to helping adults recover communication, rebuild confidence, and participate more fully in everyday life after cognitive-communication changes.
With more than 20 years of clinical experience, I have worked with adults navigating communication and cognitive changes related to stroke, brain injury, concussion, long COVID, ADHD, executive dysfunction, and chronic stress. Many of the individuals I support are medically stable and functioning well in many areas of life, yet continue to notice that communication, organization, cognitive endurance, and confidence require more effort than they once did.
They may struggle to find words, organize their thoughts, keep up in conversations, manage workplace demands, or communicate with the confidence they once had. These challenges are often subtle to others but deeply felt by the person experiencing them.
Why I Do This Work
I believe recovery is about more than improving test scores or completing therapy exercises.
It's about helping people communicate with confidence, participate fully in everyday life, and feel more like themselves again.
Communication shapes nearly every aspect of our lives. It influences how we connect with family, contribute at work, advocate for ourselves, make decisions, and engage with the world around us.
When communication changes—whether suddenly after a neurological injury or gradually through executive overload, burnout, or cognitive challenges, it can affect far more than words. It can impact confidence, independence, relationships, and quality of life.
Many adults complete medical rehabilitation but continue to experience communication and cognitive challenges that affect daily living. This often-overlooked stage of recovery is where Clear Communication Works provides support.
My goal is to help clients move beyond simply getting by and toward communicating with greater clarity, confidence, and ease in the environments that matter most.
The Reclaim Framework™
To guide this work, I developed The Reclaim Framework™—a structured, evidence-based therapy framework designed to help adults recover communication, reorganize cognitive skills, and rebuild confidence after neurological injury, executive overload, or other cognitive-communication challenges.
The framework is built on a simple belief:
Recovery should prepare people for real life, not just therapy sessions.
Rather than relying on generic exercises alone, every therapy plan is individualized and designed around meaningful participation at home, at work, and within the community.
The Reclaim Framework™ supports adults who are rebuilding after:
Stroke
Concussion
Traumatic Brain Injury
Long COVID
ADHD
Burnout and executive overload
Cognitive-communication changes affecting work and daily life
Care is delivered through three focused pathways:
Recovery Pathway
Helping adults recover communication following stroke, brain injury, concussion, long COVID, or other neurological conditions.
Work Reintegration Pathway
Supporting professionals as they rebuild communication, cognitive stamina, and workplace confidence for a successful return to work.
Executive Reset Pathway
Helping adults strengthen organization, follow-through, communication, and executive functioning through practical systems that support everyday performance.
My Approach
My approach combines evidence-based speech-language pathology with practical, functional strategies that translate into everyday life.
Rather than focusing on isolated therapy activities, The Reclaim Framework™ emphasizes meaningful communication in the environments where life actually happens—conversations with family, communication at work, decision-making, personal advocacy, and participation in the activities that matter most.
Every therapy plan is collaborative and individualized, built around each person's goals, strengths, lifestyle, and communication environments.
Progress is measured not only by improved skills, but by greater participation, confidence, and independence in everyday life.
A Boutique Practice Designed Around You
Clear Communication Works is intentionally designed as a boutique practice, allowing me to provide thoughtful, individualized care rather than a one-size-fits-all experience.
Services are delivered through secure online therapy sessions, making specialized cognitive-communication support accessible from the comfort of home while allowing therapy to be integrated into the environments where communication happens every day.
